Stannic Oxide Tin Oxide SnO2 CAS 18282-10-5 For Raw Material Of Opalescent Glass

Tin dioxide is a colorless or white powdered inorganic compound with high chemical stability and excellent physical properties. It has a high melting point and boiling point, and has good stability in high temperature environment. Tin dioxide is a semiconductor material with a wide band gap, so it has a wide range of applications in electronics and optoelectronics, such as gas sensors, transparent conductive films and lithium-ion batteries. In addition, it can also be used to manufacture high refractive index optical glass, special ceramic materials, and as a catalyst, polish and so on. The excellent properties of tin dioxide make it have a wide prospect in the fields of environmental protection and medical materials.

    product detail

Name: Stannic Oxide, Tin Oxide                                                 Molecular formula: SnO2

    CAS: 18282-10-5                                                                         Molecular weight: 150.71

Description: Stannic oxide is a white, light yellow or light gray tetragonal, hexagonal or rhombic crystalline powder, which is an excellent transparent conductive material. Stannic oxide exists in nature in the form of cassiterite. Cassiterite is generally reddish brown, in the form of particles or blocks, mostly dispersed in granite, which is the main ore for extracting tin. Tin dioxide is stable to air and heat, insoluble in water, and hardly soluble in acid or alkali solution, but soluble in hot concentrated sulfuric acid, molten caustic soda and potassium hydroxide, slightly soluble in alkali metal carbonate solution.

Uses: Stannic oxide is used in enamel and electromagnetic materials, and in the manufacture of opal glass, tin salt, porcelain colorant, fabric mordant and weighting agent, steel and glass polishing agent, etc. Tin oxide electrode is widely used in the melting of high-grade optical glass and electrolytic aluminum industry. Tin oxide electric grade is especially suitable for the melting of flint glass, barium flint, barium crown, and re crown glass, and it does not pollute the glass. Stannic oxide is an excellent transparent conductive material. It is the first transparent conductive material to be put into commercial use. In order to improve its conductivity and stability, it is often used for doping, such as SnO2: Sb, SnO2: F and so on.
