Description: Magnesium nitrate mainly exists in the form of anhydrous, dihydrate and hexahydrate, most of the products on the market are Magnesium nitrate hexahydrate.The dihydrate Mg(NO3)2·2H2O is a colorless columnar crystal, and the Magnesium nitrate hexahydrate Mg(NO3)2·6H2O is a colorless monoclinic crystal. Magnesium nitrate hexahydrate can be prepared by reaction of MgO with nitric acid, filtration, concentration, crystallization and recrystallization.

Uses: Magnesium nitrate
- It is used as oxidant, catalyst, raw material for making pyrotechnics or other magnesium salts and leather additives.
- It can be used in magnesium nitrate humidifier.
- Used as dehydrating agent for producing concentrated nitric acid.
- It is used to assist the synthesis of high explosive RDX, and to manufacture detonator, booster and detonating cord.
