High Purity Gallium Metal Ga CAS 7440-55-3 For Semiconductor Material
products features
Name: Gallium metal, Gallium
Molecular formula: Ga
CAS: 7440-55-3
Molecular weight: 69.72
Description
Gallium is a gray blue or silver white metal. Its melting point is very low, but its boiling point is very high. Pure liquid gallium has a significant tendency of supercooling, which is easy to oxidize in air and form oxide film. Gallium is a by-product in the process of aluminum and zinc smelting, but the gallium obtained from sphalerite is very little. Most of the gallium is extracted from the crude aluminum hydroxide solution in Bayer process. Sodium gallinate is obtained by electrolysis of mercury battery and hydrolysis of amalgam in sodium hydroxide, and then gallium is obtained by electrolysis. Semiconductor gallium is purified by regional melting technology, or single crystal is extracted from the molten material (i.e. Chai's method).

Used
Gallium is used to make low melting point alloys, compound semiconductor materials and high-purity alloys, and as a heat exchange medium in nuclear reactors. Gallium of different purity has different uses. For example:
4N metal gallium ≥ 99.99% can be used for photovoltaic substrate, magnetic material, high temperature thermometer, low melting point alloy, optical glass, etc.
5N metal gallium ≥ 99.999% can be used for heat conduction medium, high temperature vacuum pump, ultraviolet bulb, etc.
6N high purity gallium ≥ 99.9999% can be used in chemical book for LED GaAs, gap, GaSb, and Nb-Fe-B advanced magnetic materials.
7N high purity gallium ≥ 99.99999% is used to make insulating GaAs for IC substrate.
8N (MBE) ultra pure gallium ≥∞% can be used as the source of MBE to fabricate GaN Blue LED and LD, microwave circuit and quantum device.
